Nuclear power plants under construction - 2023

Based on IAEA data and providing an update on our infographics from 2022, information on reactors currently under construction are presented in the infographics downloadable below.

It is shown when these projects started, when they should have finished according to plans, how much they are in delay and when they are now expected to be completed.

Because of lack of available data, we did not include cost increases during construction but (as it turns out from the report mentioned above), delays tend to entail a significant increase in construction costs.

Paks 2 still does not belong to the category of nuclear power plants under construction but already faces considerable delays.

Due to the lengthy construction process and frequent delays, building new nuclear power plants is not a solution for preventing dangerous climate change.
