Type: Information exchange/coalition building

Aim: information exchange and strategy planning among Brussels-based pressure groups and similar CEE NGOs

Target Group: NGOs working on energy from Central and Eastern Europe, Brussels based NGOs, individuals involved in lobbying activities and representatives from the European Parliament and the Oak Foundation.

Description: This was a 2-day event in which the following points were covered (for details see the Programme):

Presentation on the Impact of EU Energy Policy on activities in Member States.

Discussion on EU developments.

Presentations on Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Romania.

Conclusion and cooperation opportunities: issues/measures which would have the biggest chance to meet successful lobbying and/or require coordinated actions.

Results:

Up-to-date information on EU policy and programme developments.

Critical review of available data on the region’s energy sector and policy developments in 5 countries of the region.

List of cooperation opportunities for lobbying and coordinated actions.

Calendar of activities in next 6 months up and around the March summit.
