The final conference of the SMEnergy project focuses on supporting the transition to green energy for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The final event in Budapest marks the culmination of 30 months of SMEnergy pilot work in the Danube Region, showcasing what truly worked - and what did not, with a particular focus on so-called “one-stop shop” advisory service models, which provide practical assistance to businesses in their energy efficiency and sustainability efforts. By joining, you will see concrete pilot results, learn which elements of the one‑stop shop model are realistically transferable, and gain practical insights on how to keep SME support structures alive beyond project cycles.
The SMEnergy project, supported by the Interreg Danube Region Programme, aimed to develop and pilot networks that serve as central access points to assist SMEs during the energy transition - particularly in regions where such systems are not yet available.
The conference provides insights into what has worked in practice, which solutions can be adapted in other countries, and how the project’s results can be sustained and further developed in the long term.
The event is recommended for:
-
policy makers;
-
development agencies;
-
SMEs and SME supporters and business development organisations (chambers, clusters, agencies);
-
energy consultancies, innovation hubs and one‑stop shop operators working in regions where OSS models are still to come;
-
and for anyone across Europe involved in shaping or delivering similar programmes.
The event will focus on:
-
See what a one‑stop shop network can do for SMEs, and how the SMEnergy model can be adapted to the realities of your own country or region.
-
Learn from pilots and OSS systems across the Danube Region - what worked, what did not, and which elements are worth scaling up.
-
Get concrete steps, tools and examples for designing or upgrading your own SME support scheme, from governance to service design and communication.
-
Connect with policy makers, programme managers and practitioners who are building SME energy transition support – and may become your next partners.
-
Turn the SMEnergy insights into your next project or programme, and use the conference as a springboard to create tangible benefits for SMEs in your region.
Key programme highlights:
-
Opening remarks and project overview;
-
SMEnergy pilot results and partner feedback;
-
Roundtable discussions on the challenges and opportunities of the energy transition for SMEs;
-
Corporate case studies and sectoral analyses;
-
Interactive “World Café” session on policy and practical issues;
The conference aims to provide participants with tangible knowledge and tools, as well as to facilitate the creation of new collaborations and projects to support the sustainable energy transition of SMEs.
The SMEnergy project is aligned with the Interreg Danube Region Programme 2021-2027 priority, “A greener, low-carbon Danube Region”, and will directly contribute to the programme Specific Objective 2.1, “Support greening the energy and transport sectors in the Danube Region by enhancing the integration of renewable energy sources”.
