Where are we standing with solar energy?
The ENERGIAKLUB’s detailed analysis of the current situation of the Hungarian solar energy market is published now for the fourth time. One of the main conclusions drawn from the study is that – without a stable subsidy system – investment subsidies announced in an unreliable way are “yanking” the market.
The study based on up-to-date data, interviews and a questionnaire survey evaluates the events of the year 2011 and their impact on the Hungarian solar energy market, and analyses the trends observed through the results of the past four years. The analysis prepared together with the solar energy market’s major players studied, among other topics, which the main consumer groups are and what products are offered by enterprises. Beside introducing the Hungarian solar energy potential, the advocacy organizations and the market’s legal and economic environment, the analysis also covers what motivates the solar thermal and photovoltaic markets, and what incentives could be used to boost demand.
The results of this year’s survey confirm the trends observed in the past years in some aspects (e.g. competition factors, saturation, etc.), but they also include new information. The data and responses received expressly indicate that the solar thermal and photovoltaic markets are developing very differently. While solar thermal systems are spreading slowly in Hungary, the photovoltaic market had a significant breakthrough in 2011.
The study provides useful information to everybody interested in the Hungarian solar energy market, be they investors, manufacturers or state decision-makers.
