Committed cities to integrated urban planning have been rewarded

The winning cities as Committed and Forerunner cities in integrated urban planning- within the framework of our MULTIPLY project competition, proposed last year- have been rewarded, on the event of the National Municipal Association (Települési Önkormányzatok Országos Szövetsége-(TÖOSZ), 11th of February. The Energiaklub’s manager, Gábor Orbán handed over the awards to the representatives of the award-winning municipalities.

The winning cities as Committed and Forerunner cities in integrated urban planning- within the framework of our MULTIPLY project competition, proposed last year- have been rewarded, on the event of the National Municipal Association (Települési Önkormányzatok Országos Szövetsége-TÖOSZ), 11th of February. The Energiaklub’s manager, Gábor Orbán handed over the awards to the representatives of the award-winning municipalities.

The MULTIPLY project aims to enhance the integrated urban planning by organising platforms and workshops for peer-learning between the participant municipalities to enable the establishment of their concrete plans in how to develop concepts in the field of mobility, energy efficiency and spatial planning.

The project rewarded those municipalities who were eligible of the criterias, that was set joint by the Energiaklub and the members of the project’s international consortium. The applicant municipalities were required to present their already implemented/to be implemented development concepts in the mentioned fields. The presented measures varied from renewable energy utilization to climate-friendly mobility solutions and conversion of decommissioned industrial sites into community areas etc. (further practices available here.)

The municipalities have got a key role in climate protection, as good practice demonstrators, regulators and operators- in which levels the Energiaklub intends to provide help for them. Our association is currently participating in several other projects that are focused on municipalities and we are organising events and also engaging with numerous municipalities to develop local strategies and action plans in the field of energy management and climate protection.

Those municipalities who did not get the chance to join the MULTIPLY project still have the chance to start a cooperation with the Energiaklub to develop their Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans (SECAP), local climate strategies and awareness-raising programmes in the fields of climate change and energy.
