COACH BioEnergy for a sustainable use of biomass

With the project COACH BioEnergy an innovative information and consultancy network for the growing bioenergy market has recently been initiated in Central Europe.

The project Coach BioEnergy which is co-funded by the European Commission for a period of three years starting in 2009 will promote sustainable energy production from biomass through the establishment of an extensive knowledge and consultancy network. It is often difficult to find specific and applicable information regarding the various aspects of bioenergy. Especially for decision making processes, for the development of planning strategies and the realisation of investments on local and regional level it is of high importance to make use of practical, case-specific and state-of-the-art information. COACH BioEnergy in that respect seeks to bundle and harmonize many different sources of information both from universities and other highly-regarded institutions in Central Europe. The network’s aim is to provide structured information and knowledge that is especially adjusted to practical work demands. Within the COACH BioEnergy network these valuable services will mainly be delivered via consultants of the so-called regional consulting bureaus.

19 renowned project partners from Slovakia, Poland, the Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, Hungary and the Ukraine ensure an international exchange of know-how, lead by the Leipzig based Fraunhofer Center for Central and Eastern Europe. Energiaklub is leader of work package 2 “Communication, knowlegde management and dissemination” and is thus responsible for all media and non-media activities to ensure thorough and regular information of target groups on the progress and results of the Coach BioEnergy project.
