Smart citizens for the future based on renewable energies
Many households still only invest in renewable energy when a grant is available – not as part of long-term, strategic planning. While the RenoPont advisory hub already supports energy renovation efforts, there is currently no similar platform focused on the residential use of renewables. This project aims to fill that gap.
The initiative will create an easy-to-use, interactive website that clearly presents renewable energy options for households – not only solar panels, but also heat pumps, solar collectors, biomass systems, small wind turbines and energy storage solutions. The platform will help users navigate the available technologies, avoid poor investment choices, and identify cost-effective options tailored to their household profile.
Key elements of the project:
🔍 Needs Assessment – Building on previous and new research, the project will map how open and informed households are about renewable energy options.
🛠️ Technical Background – Energiaklub experts and engineers will compile the most relevant technical, financial, and user-related information about each technology, including typical costs, return on investment, and suitability for different energy needs.
📄 Content Development – Clear guides, short example stories and personalised suggestions based on a simple questionnaire will support users in making informed decisions.
🌐 Website Development – All content will be made available through an interactive, mobile-friendly website, which will also be connected to the existing www.renopont.hu platform.
📢 Communication Campaign – A targeted campaign will spread the word to households ready to invest, using social media, municipal channels, influencers and other networks.
🏛️ Policy Recommendations – The project will also launch consultations on regulatory barriers, such as currently prohibited technologies (e.g. balcony-mounted solar panels).
The overarching goal of the project is to help Hungarian households reduce their energy bills, improve their energy independence and contribute to climate goals.
