Policy dialogue and workshop series of Effort Sharing for 2030: environmental integrity, national pathways and Paris-compatible governance

In the course of 2016 and 2017 Energiaklub and Ecologic Institute organized three workshops in Brussels for Member State climate policy experts. The workshops brought together policymakers, researchers, NGOs and politicians to discuss the Commission’s proposal on revising and updating the Effort Sharing mechanism for the 2021-2030 period.

The objective was to offer additional discussion space for participants in a Chatham House context, and to inform them about ideas related to effort sharing outside of government. Each of the events were attended by 40-50 international climate experts and bureaucrats, and according to the feedback of participants, were very useful in finding new common grounds.

The project was supperted by the European Climate Foundation.
