PAKS NUCLEAR EXPANSION: CONSTRAINTS AND RISKS - invitation to an event

The expansion of Paks Nuclear Power Plant has been a persistent issue in parliamentary politics, still, only little information has been leaking about the details of decision making. However, the investment amounting to billions of Euros would determine Hungary’s energy policy and economy for decades. Meanwhile, essential questions are not answered. We are looking for answers to these questions at this event, with national and international experts, at 12 June 2013, in the Magnet House (Budapest, Andrássy Avenue 98.).

We are looking for answers to these questions, with the speakers and participants:

  • Does Hungary need the expansion at all?
  • Who will pay for the new nuclear units?
  • Is there a danger of getting into serious debts?
  • What kind of political and economical risks should be taken into account? Why is decision making not transparent?
  • Who is responsible for the consequences of a possibly wrongheaded energy policy decision?

The event is organised in cooperation with the Heinrich Böll Foundation.
